Store bought air fresheners can contain toxic chemicals. These chemicals, such as benzene and formaldehyde, can cause nausea, headaches, and trigger asthma. Switching to all natural scents is a way to not only improve your home but protect your health.
Simmer pots are probably one of the easiest ways to fill your home with wonderful aroma. One recipe you can use for Fall is cinnamon sticks, apple peels, whole cloves, and orange rinds. Fill a small saucepan with water about 1/4 full. Add ingredients and boil for 2-3 minutes. Turn the heat down and simmer adding water as necessary.
These little bags help eliminate odor. They typically contain bamboo charcoal which grabs odors and removes moisture from the air. This simple purifier bag is great for smaller spaces like cars, bathrooms and closets by keeping the area from becoming stale.
Essential Oil Diffusers are not only versatile but can be a beautiful art piece for your desk or tabletop. To get started all you need is an oil diffuser, essential oils of your choosing and a room to smell amazing! You can try different oils for different effects depending on the mood or the rooms purpose.
Another diffuser option is the oil reed diffuser. There are many options to choose from in stores or you can make your own! Fill a diffuser bottle with water, add 2-3 tablespoons of vodka and the essential oil of your choice (around 12 drops per 1/4 cup of water.) cover and mix. Place a reed or bamboo skewer into the mixture and allow it to soak for 2 hours and then flip them so the opposite ends are submerged. Make sure to flip the reeds every other day or do to refresh the scent.
Try these all natural healthier alternatives to air fresheners for your home! You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how aromatic your home is!
